The current committee consists of Ms. Mohini Singh, Chanchal Bal, Amandeep Virk, Sewa Bains, Satwant Dhaliwal. Over the years the support from the community has been overwhelming. The Corporate sponsors and the dinner guests have supported the foundation continuously every year. The guests enjoy a home cooked meal and entertainment provided by local artists from Vancouver and Kelowna.
Over the last 10 years in Kelowna we have raised $265,975.57 gross. Less Expenses with total donations amounting to $202,285.86. The funds raised in the interior have been donated in the community i.e. the Cancer Clinic for the Southern Interior, UBC Kelowna and Punjabi Scholarships.
As this is the 10th year in Kelowna, we feel we need to recognize some people, groups, organizations that have made the Kelowna Chapter functions successful.
We thank: Amar Brar and his crew for providing the DJ, photos and video, Karen Grieb for starting the first year’s entertainment with a song dedicated to Deepak. UBC Girlz, United Bhangra Club, PCAC Bhangra Club, Punj Bhangra Club, PAAR Club Jrs, PAAR Club Sr. Men, PAAR Club Women and the coed teams who have danced their hearts out to showcase their talents. Special thanks to, the Dholi - Navinder Sahota and Ravi who have been there every year with their dhol dedication to start the evening.
One of the biggest differences of the Kelowna dinner has been the home cooked meal by Barb Bal and friends. The volunteers for set up and take down, the people who served the dinner and the clean up at the end deserve a huge thank you.
